The beautiful wedding of Anna & PJ… so many wonderful moments to share with you and therefore so difficult to choose just one. However, with my previous blog featuring such a vibrant and energetic pre-ceremony moment, I thought I would slow the pace to a really calm moment, a moment seldom found on a wedding day but one that Anna created for herself on her magical day.
This image captures Anna taking a precious moment – amidst the excitable energy of her bridesmaids, mother and father getting ready – to read through the lovely book of reflections that her friends had made for her: it contained amusing anecdotes, photos, memories and wishes of good luck as she becomes ‘Mrs Rawson’, having dated PJ for fifteen (yes, fifteen!) years, more than half their lives!
In this image I’m particularly fond of the framing: Anna’s wedding dress, immaculately hung, very clearly sets the context without dominating the shot, naturally leading your eye from left to right to the comfort and cosiness of the family sofa, with Anna casually curled up and engrossed in her wonderful gift; even the hard structure of the lovely exposed beams is so nicely juxtaposed with the softness of the pastel colours, the wonderful quality of window light and the gentle femininity of the shot. Shooting vertically with an ultra-wide 20mm was essential to ensure that I could frame everything I needed to whilst creating an interesting perspective; shooting near wide-open made the most of the natural light. This was one of those moments in which everything naturally came together, creating a memory that Anna will forever treasure.
Anna was so incredibly relaxed and full of joy as she prepared for her wedding day and it was an absolute delight to be able to discreetly document such sacred moments for her. The fact that both her and PJ were so delighted with me only adds to the incredible memories that I shall forever hold of their day:
Martyn. We cannot thank you enough for making this the most perfect day. You captured every single moment. All our guests commented on how truly incredible you were. We couldn’t have chosen a better person to document the best day of our lives – keeping us calm and joining in on the fun. You have become a friend to both of us. Thank you so much.
