This Sunday I met once again with the lovely Brian and Alison who are soon to wed at the picture-perfect Brick Kiln Barn in Suffolk.
Venue visits are something I conduct for all my couples (regardless of the wedding package that they have selected) and are a really important aspect of my wedding photography preparations. It is in these calm, unpressured moments that my creative eye falls in, noting details, interesting vantage points, natural framing opportunities of trees, shapes and patterns, lead-in lines and – crucially – the way that the lighting falls at key moments of the day.
I always endeavor to coordinate my venue visit with the couple’s visit: we can walk the grounds together, identify formal photo opportunities, discuss the finer details of the day as well as field questions for them regarding ideal timings and logistical aspects of the day.
Ultimately, of course, these meetings help to strengthen our working relationship, something that is highly valuable in putting their minds at ease and ensuring that their wedding photos are the best, most treasured and beautiful memories that they can possibly be.
